Web Programming

What is Web Programming?
A website needs more than just a good design to be functional; it needs programming to make it dynamic. Whether this is to conduct e-commerce, support a content management system, collaborate with others, allow visitors to log in, ensure consistency throughout your site, or anything else you may think of.

The type of programming that may be needed on your site is individual. That is to say, your needs will not neatly fit into any type of package we could try to create; therefore, we don't try. Instead, we will work closely with you to determine what your needs and expectations are. We will create a conceptual model for your site, and once all the pieces are fully thought out and in place, we will begin programming.

For sites needing web design, hosting, and/or database development, see the Web Design, Hosting, and Database Services pages.

What is the Process?
Communication is key when laying out the functionality of a program. However, we're not going to talk "over your head". We will try to find the level of techno-babble that you are comfortable with, and work from there.

The basic steps in developing a program are:

  • Talking with you to determine your needs
  • Laying out what pieces you may need (database support, JavaScripting, modifications to your site's design, etc)
  • Creating a guideline of how the program should work
  • Once approved, progamming the initial site (down and dirty. No real design, just pure functionality)
  • Functionality approved, applying the program to your site's design
